What to compare

  1. Price per square meter or per pallet per month
  2. Minimum contract length and flexibility
  3. Security, fire safety, insurance and flood protection
  4. Loading docks, forklifts and truck access
  5. Inventory system and reporting
  6. Pest control and cleanliness for food items

Renting vs outsourcing

  • Rent your own space: more control but you manage staff and equipment
  • Use a logistics provider: pay for what you use, and they handle staff and systems

Tips

  • Visit before signing and check the building condition
  • Check the electricity supply and backup power for cold storage
  • Ask how stock counts and damages are handled
  • Insure your stock
