About

A plain-language guide to doing business in Cambodia

Most information about Cambodian trade and company rules is scattered across ministries, Facebook groups and the memory of whoever has done it before. This site puts it in one place, in order, with the arithmetic done for you.

What this site covers

Five areas, each written for someone who has to make a decision this week rather than read a legal textbook:

  • Import and customs — what a shipment costs once duty and VAT are added, and which documents customs expects.
  • Export and shipping — paperwork, trade terms, freight choices.
  • Starting a business — registration sequence, licences, annual obligations.
  • Living and visas — visa categories, extensions and work permits.
  • Transport and logistics — ports, trucking, warehousing and the practical details in between.

How the guides are written

Each guide is built around the questions people actually ask: what does it cost, what paperwork is needed, in what order, and what happens if a step is missed. Where a number depends on your product or your province, we explain how to find it rather than inventing a figure.

Procedures in Cambodia change. Every guide carries a last-updated date, and anything that affects money or legal standing should always be confirmed with the ministry, the customs authority or a licensed professional before you commit.

Independence

This site is reader-supported. It carries advertising and may earn a commission from some links, but no advertiser reviews, approves or influences the content of a guide. If a sponsored placement is ever used, it is labelled.

Corrections

If a rule has changed or a guide is wrong, tell us through the contact page. Corrections are made to the guide itself, and the last-updated date changes with them.
