Several border crossings handle most of Cambodia's land trade. Each has its own character and common cargo types.
Main crossings
- Bavet (Moc Bai), Vietnam: major route for trade between Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City
- Poipet (Aranyaprathet), Thailand: the main land link with Bangkok and Thai industry
- Cham Yeam (Hat Lek), Thailand: southwest route near Koh Kong
- Kaam Samnor (Vinh Xuong), Vietnam: Mekong border with strong riverside traffic
- Other crossings: smaller border points with Vietnam, Thailand and Laos for regional and local trade
What happens at the border
- Export clearance in the origin country
- Cargo transfer to local transport if needed
- Cambodian customs declaration and inspection
- Payment of duty and taxes
- Release and onward transport

Planning points
- Check opening hours and holiday closures
- Prepare all documents in advance, including permits and certificates
- Expect queues at peak times
- Use a broker and forwarder that handle the specific crossing
- Understand the border handling, storage and transfer fees
Tip
choose the crossing that is closest to your supplier's factory and your warehouse, then compare the total cost, not only the freight rate.
Crossings, hours and procedures change. Confirm before shipping.
